Garuda is Lord Vishnus carrier.

He is mentioned in both Hindu and Buddhist mythology.
Throughout the Mahabharata, Garuda is invoked as symbol of impetious violent force, of speed, and of martial prowess.

In Buddhist mythology Garudas are enormous predatory birds with intelligence and organization. Garudas are enemies with the Nagas, a race of intelligent serpent- or dragon-like beings. This enmity goes back to the birth of Arun (charioteer of Surya, the sun god, and Garuda)

Garuda carries snakes in his hands. With his wings wide spread, he protects from poison of gross and sublte nature.
